October 17 - "On Our Own Group" Next Meeting

If you are a widow, and would like to get together with other ladies who understand, please plan to meet at the West Chester Original Pancake House on the third Friday of each month. We meet at 9:30 am and have a good time eating and sharing. Our next meeting is Friday, September 19. Questions? Call Joyce Courtney at 777-3346.

November 7 – Veteran's Day Program

Join us on Friday, November 7 at 7:00 pm in the CLC to honor our veterans. This is an all-church event and all ages are welcome to attend. Feel free to invite a friend.

Our program will feature local speaker Rosemary Deitzer, an expert on the “Miracle of the North Platte Canteen.” North Platte was a small town in Nebraska where the Union Pacific Railroad had a ‘whistle stop’ terminal where passengers, mostly soldiers traveling for training or embarkation, could stretch their legs.

Rosemary’s presentation is about the WWII era; the young men and women going to battle; and people from the home front who, between 1941-1946, fed 6.5 million GI’s a home-cooked meal.

The Salute to Veterans program will also honor veterans from all our wars, past and present, stand a military Color Guard from Post #681 and fill the hall with patriotic music and songs from the Men of Faith chorus, and other musical ensembles. After the closing ceremony, our guests are invited to visit our memory and refreshment tables.
