Children’s Serve Opportunities
Each week during our Sunday morning worship program, The Ride, we provide an open offering bowl, where children can place their own gift to God. The children know that their offerings go to support different missions throughout the year.
In addition to supporting missions with monetary offering, children at Faith Community have a wide variety of hands-on opportunities to serve others. Some examples are listed below:
Guatemala Family Mission Trip
During this Guatemala trip, families serve together in a beautiful setting among great poverty. Team members work on many projects including building stoves, working in schools and distributing needed clothing, shoes, and school supplies. Children are welcome to participate with their families.
Stepping Forward is a ministry of Faith Community held weekly on Tuesday nights that helps equip low income individuals and families with skills, tools, and relational support. During Stepping Forward, children can help set tables, serve food and drinks, clean up, and other tasks.
Summer Lunch Program
During the summer months, Faith Community serves lunches twice a week to children at Lakota Lake Apartments who receive free and reduced lunches during the school year. Some of the ways to serve include: Prepare and pack lunches, serve lunches, share a story and play with children. Children are welcome to help out all summer, or as their schedules allow.
Other Serve Opportunities
We periodically offer opportunities for our children to serve others through our different children’s ministries including Jesus And Me and Upward Basketball and Cheer. Some projects or activities have included:
- Packing Christmas food baskets for local low-income families
- Creating placemats for Stepping Forward and Kairos Prison Ministry
- Decorating Easter bags for low-income families
- Decorating for Vacation Bible School
- Stockings for Soldiers
- Hands Against Hunger
