Caregivers Support Group

First Monday of the month, 2pm - 3:30pm

Caregivers Support Group

Leader: Ann Copeland |

Are you a caregiver? If you help care for another adult, whether or not that person lives in your home, in a nursing home, or in their own home, you are a caregiver. You are a caregiver whether you devote as much as 24 hours per day or as little as 5 minutes a week to someone you care for.

Caregiving is stressful. Caregivers are more likely than their non-caregiving peers to be a risk for depression, heart disease, high blood pressure and other chronic illnesses. You are particularly at risk for caregiver burnout -- a state of mental and physical exhaustion brought on by the physical, emotional and financial stresses of providing ongoing care, usually over a long period of time. Caregiver burnout is the most cited reason for caregivers placing a loved one in a nursing home.

Caregiving for a loved one can leave you frustrated and angry at times. That’s normal -- but you don’t have to go through it alone. Research shows that having support is one of the best, most effective ways of reducing caregiver stress and frustration. A caregiver support group can be a lifeline, providing a place to share feelings, make new friends, get help navigating the health care system, and learn from and lean on others who are walking a similar path.

Please join us for our monthly Caregivers Support Group that meets on the 1st Monday of every month, from 2-3:30 pm in the Parlor.

Join us on September 10 and 11 for an authentic conversation about modern-day Christianity and how to overcome doubts to the Christian faith. The event will feature three dynamic speakers who will share their personal faith journeys on Friday evening and Saturday morning:

  • Friday, September 10 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm
  • Saturday, September 11 from 8:30 am (doors open at 7:30) - 12:30 pm

Cost: $10 per attendee

Click the button below to reserve a spot for yourself (and friends, too). Note: NO processing fees added.

Alisa Childers - Keynote Speaker

Alisa never thought she would question her Christian faith. She had been raised in a Christian home where she had seen her mom and dad feed the hungry, clothe the homeless, and love the outcast. She had dedicated her own life to leading worship as part of the Christian band ZOEgirl. All of that was deeply challenged when she met a pastor who called himself a hopeful agnostic.

At the REAL THING Conference, Alisa will describe her personal journey that encountered the movement that seeks to redefine Christianity. She will give some explanation of foundational beliefs of Christianity and offer a robust response to ways Historic Christianity can stand up to our doubts and progressive Christianity.

Alisa Childers is a wife, a mom, an author, a blogger, and a speaker. She was a member of the award-winning CCM recording group ZOEgirl. She is a popular speaker at apologetics and Christian worldview conferences. Alisa has been published at The Gospel Coalition, Crosswalk, The Stream, For Every MomDecision magazine, and The Christian Post. Her book, Another Gospel: A Lifelong Christian Seeks Truth in Response to Progressive Christianity has become a best-seller. You can connect with Alisa online where she shares a blog, podcast, and other inspirational content at alisachilders.com.

Tom Gilson

Tom will speak about how Jesus is "Too Good to be False," taken from the title of his latest book. The message is that Jesus' character is first of all, way better than most of us ever realized, and second, not something that could have been made up as legend the way skeptics suppose the Gospels were written. Tom will also emphasize that the message in the gospel is true history, not just some ethereal religiously true, and that we have the opportunity and responsibility to pursue the truth.

Tom Gilson is a senior editor with The Stream and author of six books, including Too Good to be False: How Jesus’ Incomparable Character Reveals His Reality and A Christian Mind: Thoughts on Life and Truth in Jesus ChristHe has more than 1,000 published articles to his credit, in addition to his top-ranked Thinking Christian blogfounded in 2004. Tom lives near Dayton, Ohio with his wife, Sara. He’s been saying they’re the proud grandparents of two grand-dogs, a grand-cat and a grand-bunny by way of their two married children; but now they’re the truly proud grandparents of one incredible grandson, born the last day of 2020, making it a much better year after all, and just in time.

Bob Perry

Throughout history, Christianity has always upheld a biblical view of truth, goodness, and beauty that were grounded in God’s character. These form the foundation for understanding reality itself. But today, each of these have been turned upside down by the culture. And the bad ideas that follow are threatening to infiltrate the church. Clear thinking Christians need to recognize how this is happening and be equipped to defend the faith in a way that keeps the church right-side up.

Bob Perry holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. His professional aviation career included eight years as a naval aviator in the U.S. Marine Corps flying the AV-8B Harrier attack jet, and nearly 32 years as a commercial airline pilot with Delta Air Lines. He is a contributing writer for the Christian Research Journal and has had his work published in Salvo, Touchstone, The Lookout, Family Digest, Marriage Partnership, and Air Line Pilot magazines. He has been writing about Christian apologetics at truehorizon.org since 2008. Bob has been married to Mary, his high school sweetheart, since 1985. The have five grown sons, three daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren. They are long-time residents of West Chester, Ohio.

For questions, please contact Ann Copeland at 513-275-1725, or
