Youth Fall Retreat

Friday, September 06, 2019, 4:30pm - Sunday, September 08, 2019, 4pm

Youth Fall Retreat

Leader: Jeff Ackenback |

Youth Fall Retreat at The ARK

  • Leave Friday, September 6 around 4:30 pm
  • Please arrive by 4:15 pm (If the time is an issue, please talk to me, so we can figure it out)
  • Return Sunday, September 8 at 4:00 pm

Note: There will be no cost to the students for the retreat, but they will need money for lunch on the way home Sunday, and $10 for the t-shirt.

Our Fall Retreat will be held at The Ark (RCC) Christian Camp in Converse, Indiana. This year’s theme is "Legacy." We will talk about what that word means for some of the heroes we’ve read about in the Bible, and, most importantly, what it means for us. This will also be a great time to build better friendships with other students and the adult leaders.

In addition to the discipleship, preaching, and group times, we will also get the chance to have a lot of fun, including capture the flag, a high ropes course with a giant swing, and a climbing wall. Sometimes it is just good to get away from the daily activities of life and set aside time for intentional growth. That is what this weekend trip is all about, getting out of the norm to re-connect with God and your fellow students.

The weekend will include the following:

  • 2 nights in Jungle Huts at RCC
  • 5 Meals (we’ll stop for ice cream/food on the way back – bring $)
  • Fun w/ Friends
  • Time to grow with God

To reserve your spot:

  • Turn in a completed liability waiver and the $10 t-shirt payment by September 1 (checks made out to "FCUMC")
  • Anyone wishing to register after September 1 will only be allowed to do so if space permits.

WHAT TO BRING:

Bible, writing utensil, pillow, sleeping bag, towels, washcloth, grooming articles (soap, toothpaste, etc.), socks, those unmentionables, shoes, pants, shirts, shorts, and sleeping wear.

Caregivers Support Group

First Monday of the month, 1pm - 2:30pm

Caregivers Support Group

Leader: Ann Copeland |

Are you a caregiver? If you help care for another adult, whether or not that person lives in your home, in a nursing home, or in their own home, you are a caregiver. You are a caregiver whether you devote as much as 24 hours per day or as little as 5 minutes a week to someone you care for.

Caregiving is stressful. Caregivers are more likely than their non-caregiving peers to be a risk for depression, heart disease, high blood pressure and other chronic illnesses. You are particularly at risk for caregiver burnout -- a state of mental and physical exhaustion brought on by the physical, emotional and financial stresses of providing ongoing care, usually over a long period of time. Caregiver burnout is the most cited reason for caregivers placing a loved one in a nursing home.

Caregiving for a loved one can leave you frustrated and angry at times. That’s normal -- but you don’t have to go through it alone. Research shows that having support is one of the best, most effective ways of reducing caregiver stress and frustration. A caregiver support group can be a lifeline, providing a place to share feelings, make new friends, get help navigating the health care system, and learn from and lean on others who are walking a similar path.

Please join us for our new monthly Caregivers Support Group on Monday, September 9, from 1-2:30 pm in the Parlor. For questions, please contact Ann Copeland at 513-275-1725, or
