Caregivers Support Group
First Monday of the month, 2pm - 3:30pm
Caregivers Support Group
Are you a caregiver? If you help care for another adult, whether or not that person lives in your home, in a nursing home, or in their own home, you are a caregiver. You are a caregiver whether you devote as much as 24 hours per day or as little as 5 minutes a week to someone you care for.
Caregiving is stressful. Caregivers are more likely than their non-caregiving peers to be a risk for depression, heart disease, high blood pressure and other chronic illnesses. You are particularly at risk for caregiver burnout -- a state of mental and physical exhaustion brought on by the physical, emotional and financial stresses of providing ongoing care, usually over a long period of time. Caregiver burnout is the most cited reason for caregivers placing a loved one in a nursing home.
Caregiving for a loved one can leave you frustrated and angry at times. That’s normal -- but you don’t have to go through it alone. Research shows that having support is one of the best, most effective ways of reducing caregiver stress and frustration. A caregiver support group can be a lifeline, providing a place to share feelings, make new friends, get help navigating the health care system, and learn from and lean on others who are walking a similar path.
Please join us for our monthly Caregivers Support Group that meets on the 1st Monday of every month, from 2-3:30 pm in Room 202.
For questions, please contact Barbara Wentz at 513-382-6781or or Lorrie Lin at 513-284-9417 or

Christmas Toy Shop
Saturday, December 9
Christmas Toy Shop
Leader: Kim Hollon |
Time: 9am – Noon
Offering Hope and Love
This holiday season as we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we look to be a beacon of hope and love to local families. For many, this festive season of giving and celebrating is also a time of financial stress. To help alleviate this strain, Faith Community will offer a Christmas Toy Shop for local families. Designed to give parents the opportunity to provide Christmas for their family, the Christmas Toy Shop allows parents to select and purchase a $30 - $40-valued gift for each of their children at a greatly reduced price of $5.
Gifts with Dignity
By offering the gifts at a reduced price, we are giving parents the dignity to purchase and select the gifts for their children. This event began in response to parents watching their children receive good-intentioned gifts selected by strangers that the parents wished they were able to purchase. Thus, dignity is restored to them as they are able to purchase the gifts for their children.
This Christmas Toy Shop is only made possible through your generous donations. We are hoping to help 350 families with gifts this year!
NOTE: If you are a Food Pantry family who is interested in participating in the Christmas Toy Shop, please visit our Seasonal Support page.
How can I help?
- Shop from Home - You can click on our Amazon Wish List, or Target Registry, make your selections, and the toys will be delivered directly to the church.
- Shop Locally - You can also purchase toys at your favorite local store. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of the most requested toys … have fun shopping!
- Purchase Gift Cards - You can purchase and mail (or drop off) gift cards to the church and we will do the shopping. Please be sure to include “Kim Hollon” on the envelope, and our elves will take care of the rest.
Timing
All toys, gift cards, and gift wrap must be delivered or dropped off at the church by Sunday, November 26. Please stop by M-Th between 9 am - 4 pm and leave your items in the church office.
Note: If you would like to make special arrangements for drop-off, contact Kim at
.
How will it work for the families?
We will fill the Christmas Toy Shop with age-appropriate, unwrapped $40-valued gifts, with the target age range of 2 to 14. On the day of the event, Saturday, December 9, registered parents will arrive to shop during their designated time slot. The cost to the parents is $5 per gift with a maximum of $15 per family.
Thank you!
We are looking forward to helping local families provide a special Christmas for their children. Thank you Faith Community for your generosity this holiday season!
